Abstract Porphyry-type deposits are the main global source of copper and molybdenum. An improved understanding most favorable structural settings for emplacement these is necessary successful exploration, particularly considering that future discoveries will be made under cover based on conceptual target generation. A common view porphyry preferentially emplaced in pull-apart basins within strike-slip fault systems favor local extension a regional compressive to transpressive tectonic regime. However, role such context magma storage evolution upper crust remains unclear. In this work, we propose new model integration data geometry magmatic-hydrothermal from Andean Cu-Mo metallogenic belts active volcanic arc southern Chile. We suggest differentiation volatile accumulation required formation deposit best achieved when system controlling ascent strongly misoriented reactivation with respect prevailing stress field. When magmas fluids channeled by faults favorably oriented (approximately normal σ3), they form sets parallel, subvertical dikes veins, which both during late stages epithermal environment. This has direct implications mineral exploration.
